Michigan Merit Exam
MME is a standardized testing program used by the State of Michigan to assess student mastery of High School Content Expectations. This exam includes ACT plus writing, ACT Workeys and Michigan tests.
Students who pass the MME mathematics, reading, writing and science components, with a score of 1100 or more, will qualify for early installment payments versus a lump sum payment after they complete their sophomore year with a 2.5 grade point average or better.
MME and MEAP scores are also used to determine if schools and districts are meeting annual state goals called Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) required under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.
Schools and districts not meeting AYP for two or more consecutive years receive various state supports and federal consequences depending on their phase of improvement and if they receive Title I funding.
