Central Office

Message from the Superintendent

Belding Area Schools has had great community support over the years. The schools continue to be the focal point of the community. Whether it’s attending PTO meetings, athletic contests, band concerts, play productions, carnivals, or award assemblies, community members are there in support.

Belding Area Schools has gone through some changes over the recent years. The grade realignment of our elementary buildings and the adoption of common assessments across grade levels aligned with Michigan Grade Level and High School Content Expectations have moved the district in a positive direction. Ellis Elementary is an early elementary building with kindergarten through second grade and Woodview Elementary is a third through fifth grade (upper elementary) building. Having all grade-level teachers at the same site has enabled us to improve the delivery of curriculum and its assessments. The Administration Building is a combination building that houses both Central Office and the Pre-K programs (Jump Start, Pre-School, and ECDD). The Alternative Education, Teenage Parenting Program, Under 20’s Program, and Community Education are located at Washington School. Most recently, as a result of the increased graduation requirements, Belding Area Schools changed to a trimester schedule allowing students more exposure to the core classes, giving them more instructional time and decreasing class sizes.

My family made the decision many years ago that Belding was a great place to live and raise a family. Belding Area Schools provide a safe, educational environment that affords its students many opportunities to grow through academics, art, drama, athletics, music, leadership roles, and service learning programs. As superintendent, I see it as part of my responsibility to continue making the Belding Area School District a place where people want to live and raise a family.
