Zumba—New Fitness Class
Zumba is a cardio workout inspired by Latin and international rhythms. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Come ready to have fun! Classes are held in the middle school cafeteria (enter from south side of building) every week beginning September 13th as follows:
* Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
* Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Cost is $4.50 per class or $35.00 for 10 weeks. Payment will be collected by the instructor. Certified Instructor: Valerie Dawdy.

You can learn to control your stress and to relax with this hypnosis session.
Weight Control
Tuesday, October 21st, 6:00 - 7:45 p.m.
You can learn to control your appetite, to increase your desire to eat healthier, and to increase your motivation to exercise regularly with hypnosis. The hypnosis session includes a weight control “tool kit” and a half-hour reinforcement tape.
Smoking Cessation/Stop Smoking Forever
Tuesday, Oct. 21, 8:00 - 9:30 p.m.
You can quit smoking forever in only one hour with hypnosis. Includes a stop smoking “tool kit” and a half-hour reinforcement tape. Classes will be held at Belding High School library. Class fee must be pre-paid at the Community Education office by October 17. Cost is $45 per class. Hypnotherapist: Beverly Carboneau.
PAWS-ability Beginner Dog Obedience
This is a beginner obedience class—good for puppies and older dogs too. It is never too late to learn good manners! The goal is to give owners a better sense of how to teach their dogs the skills that will make them great companions. Class time is spent practicing new skills or “commands” in a social atmosphere with people and dogs. Teaching methods use a combination of positive reinforcement with food, voice, and correction. The next 7-week class will be held on Tuesdays, October 21 through December 9 (no class Nov. 4), from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. in the gym at Woodview Elementary. Cost of $50 must be prepaid at the Community Ed. office. Instructor: Ann Bromley.
Cleaning Up Your Digital Mess
If you are serious about taking control of your digital photographs, this class is for you. Learn how to use this powerful yet simple program to edit, organize and store your digital images. Sort them so you can find what you need quickly when you need it. Learn about the many options for printing your photos and creating life long books for years of enjoyment. You only need basic computer skills, so don’t be intimidated…this truly is an easy program to learn and use. Memory Manager program is included in the price of the class.
This two week class will be offered on Thursday, October 16 and 23, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington School. Cost of $65 (includes program) is due October 13. Instructor: Laura Bunting.
Sanchin-Ryu Karate
Youth Sanchin-Ryu Karate & Self Defense
Children learn the martial art of Sanchin-Ryu which builds self-confidence and develops focus and discipline. Students are taught alternatives to fighting in a positive, go-at-your-own-pace environment. We also address the growing concerns we have for our kids’ safety today. Our goal is to empower children with proven techniques to handle a variety of everyday scenarios they may encounter. Topics include: How to deal with strangers, bullies, peer pressure, and conflict resolution.
Adult & Family Sanchin-Ryu Karate
Taught on an individual basis, students study in a non-competitive environment while working on Sanchin-Ryu’s practical movements and no-nonsense approach to self-defense. We study three levels of self-defense: physical, mental and emotional.
The next session will be held on Mondays for 7 weeks, November 17 - January 19 (No class Dec. 1, 22 & 29). Register with instructor on first night. Classes are held in the middle school drama room as follows:
* Youth Class (K-8 Gr) - 6:30-7:30 p.m.
* Adult & Family - 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cost for 7 week session is $18 for Youth Class, $26 for the adult class and $52 for families.
Tae Kwon Do
Klingbeil Institute of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do welcomes you to come and be a part of one of the largest martial arts organizations in the world. We have open enrollment, so you can start at any time! Classes are held on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at the middle school cafeteria from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Classes are open to children (ages 5+), adults and families. Cost is $15 per month for one night/wk; $25 per month for 2 nights/wk. Family discounts are available. Class fee is collected by instructor. Adult Co-Ed Volleyball
Open Co-ed Volleyball for adults will be held every Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. beginning October 26, 2008, through April 19, 2009, at the middle school gym. Join at any time. No need to pre-register. Cost is $2 per visit or $25 for season pass. Coordinator: Randy Loveland. No children please.
Adult 5-on-5 Basketball
Two Open Gyms are offered:
Wednesdays: Every Wednesday beginning November 5, 2008, through April 22, 2009, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the middle school gym. Cost is $2 per visit or $25 for season pass. Coordinator: Tony Sower.
Sundays: Every Sunday beginning November 2, 2008, through April 19, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the high school gym. This is open to adults who are Belding/Greenville residents and Belding alumni. Cost is $2 per visit or $25 for season pass. Coordinator: Chris Shindorf.
Digital Scrapbooking
Check out the WOW of digital scrapbooking with the quick and easy Storybook Creator Plus. This program lets you choose your background paper, add stickers, titles, plus position text and photos on your page. You can crop your photo into an oval and matte it with the click of the mouse. You never run out of supplies and there is no waste. You can start with a blank page and let your creativity flow or select a pre-made template to make it really easy and quick. You will be shown how to do a pre-designed book, 12x12 individual pages, start a page from scratch, do your own cards, invitations and more.
This 2-week class will be held on Thursdays, November 13 and 20 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington School. Cost of $93 (includes program) is due Nov. 11th. Instructor: Laura Bunting.
Fusing Gem Class
Make exciting and dazzling fused glass gems in this two session class. Learn about glass fusing while working with a Hot Box and a Fusing Kiln from JenKen. Glass cutting, compatibility and types, firing, annealing and other topics will be covered. Students will work with glass rods, dichroic, frit and other types of glass, plus other items such as fine silver wire. After fusing your pieces, learn techniques including working with a glass grinder, saw and jewelry bit to get your pieces ready for annealing and finishing! No previous experience is required. All materials are included with the exception of jewelry findings. You will make 3-5 pieces of jewelry depending on your choice of glass and size of pieces. Class will be held October 21 and 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the middle school. Cost of $40 is due October 16. Instructor: Sandra Samsel. Class size is limited to eight.
