Mary Huyck is a Case Manager and School Liason for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Belding Area Schools. Mrs. Huyck began working with BBBS last winter when her AmeriCorps term of service was finished. During her service as an AmeriCorps volunteer, Mary began a mentoring program at the middle school that now contiues under the Michigan Capital Region BBBS Agency. She worked closely with the school to secure the partnership and now continues to serve middle school students and is working to expand the program to elementary school students in the Belding district. Mrs. Huyck moved to Belding five years ago with her husband Steve and two boys. Mrs. Huyck has always enjoyed being involved in schools and student life. She has held many paid and volunteer positions in the past where ever her children have attended. Graduating from Eastern Michigan University in 1988 with a bachelors of science degree in family life and child development, Mary has enjoyed being involved in her family’s life as well as the lives of many community members over the years. Hobbies enjoyed by Mary include attending and cheering on her kids in sports activities, photography, reading, gardening and watching movies.
