John Deiter earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1995 and his master’s in teaching from Saginaw Valley State University in 2001. He completed his Ph.D. in K-12 educational administration at Michigan State University in 2007. Dr. Deiter began teaching and coaching in 1995 at Swan Valley High School in Saginaw and later taught and coached at Okemos High School. He served as the assistant principal at Ionia High School in 2002-2004. He has also served as an adjunct professor for Grand Valley State University and Central Michigan University. Dr. Deiter and his family moved to Belding in 2004 when he was appointed principal of Belding Middle School. In his spare time he enjoys coaching youth soccer, bicycling, reading, and sports. His daughters, Madison and Gwenyth, attend Belding Area Schools and his wife, Amy, is the secretary at Ellis Elementary.
