Mike Simmons has been teaching in Belding since 1986. A lifelong resident of Belding and graduate of Belding High School, Mr. Simmons has been teaching fourth and fifth grades in the district. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Grand Valley State University and a master’s in elementary education from GVSU. He currently teaches fifth grade at Woodview Elementary and serves as grade level chairperson. Mr. Simmons believes in making education fun and in teaching students in a variety of ways that insure understanding.

He announced sports for Belding Schools as well as speaks at area churches and events. Along with his students, Mr. Simmons initiated the community Liberty Tree project as a way to honor veterans who sacrificed their lives for our country’s independence.

He is married to April, a fourth grade teacher at Woodview. He has two sons and a daughter.
